The Ploughman’s Lunch

Serves 2

  • 8oz/225g Isle of Man Mature Cheddar Cheeses, a selection
  • 2 thick slices white crusty bread
  • 2/3 tbsps Branston pickle or home made pickle
  • Sweet gherkins
  • Lettuce leaves such as bibb
  • Cucumber slices or tomato
  • 1 spring onion
  • Pickled onions

Method

  1. Arrange the butter and bread on a large platter or plate
  2. Cut 4oz/110g of Isle of Man Mature Cheddar per person, (it is niceto have a choice of two or more Isle of Man Mature Cheddars). Try 2oz/50g of each cheddar and arrange these on the same Platter / plate
  3. Put the pickled onions and chutney or pickles on the side of theplate, along with a fresh tomato left whole and the spring onions
  4. Make sure there is salt and pepper available, as well as some good real ale or cider!
